CLEAT names Senator Rodríguez “Best of Senate”
July 10, 2012 - EL PASO – Today, state Senator José Rodríguez was named “Best of the Senate” by the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas (CLEAT). Leaders from CLEAT, the El Paso Municipal Police Officers Association and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Association were on hand for the award presentation held at Rodríguez’s El Paso office.
“As the largest law enforcement union in Texas, CLEAT is known for honoring elected officials who fight for the cause of Texas’ finest. We are pleased to present the Best of the Texas Senate award to Senator Rodriguez,” said Charley Wilkison, Director of Public Affairs, CLEAT.
“Senator Rodriguez has always been a lifelong supporter of Texas law enforcement. He has always stood strong for the men and women in uniform even when it would have been easier to remain on the sidelines,” continued Wilkison.
“I am incredibly honored to be named ‘Best of the Senate’ and even more honored to be in a position to support the men and women who keep our communities safe day in and day out,” said Senator Rodríguez. “I look forward to working closely with CLEAT and our local police organizations during the next legislative session to support the measures important to law enforcement.”
The “Best of the Senate” is awarded to members of the Texas State Senate who have been key supporters of legislation impacting law enforcement at the state and local levels.
