Sen. Rodriguez hopes to improve dental health in Texas

by KTSM—

A bill hoping to improve access to dental care in Texas was introduced this week in the State Senate.

El Paso Senator Jose Rodriguez along with Sen. Kevin Eltife of Tyler introduced SB 787 on Wednesday.

It’s part of an effort to fight a dental health provider shortage in the state.

Rodriguez says the bill will allow dental hygienists to advance their careers through an additional 2 years of education and training to become licensed dental hygiene practitioners, who can provide preventative care under the supervision of a dentist.

Sen. Rodriguez says this bill will give dentists the ability to expand their practices.
